Our Story
Alchemy is the process of transmuting base materials into something more precious.
First, the bees create the honeycomb to structure their hives, then they create the honey. The humans process the hive and turn the honeycomb into beeswax. Then I craft the beeswax intentionally into candles for you to enjoy in your home. And born, is The Alchemised Hive.
The inspiration to craft beeswax candles came to me following a family weekend getaway in the New South Wales hinterland with my wonderful fiancé and my beautiful almost-2-year-old son Henry.
We were browsing a sweet boutique store and I purchased a set of beeswax tapers for us to burn that evening. We have always loved the ambience of candles burning in our home, but we are passionate about living a low tox life and haven’t had conventional or fragranced candles for several years. This moment sparked the idea within, that I could start crafting my own candles which would provide a new creative outlet to indulge in during Henry’s nap times whilst also contributing to supporting our small family.
My first ever beeswax candles were gifted to me by my doula during my pregnancy with Henry. They were stunning, had a lovely subtle smell and always made our home feel like a sacred space. They stood upon my birth altar during labor and stayed lit until my baby was born.
It is very important to our family to make choices that are good for us and support our health. We limit our involvement in consumerism and only use products that we really need or that add intention into our lives without harming us. Beeswax candles are amazing as they purify the air and allow you to enjoy the beauty of a candle without polluting your environment or harming your health.
Every night since pouring my first candle, we have one (or more) burning in our bedroom, creating a soft ambience while we read books to our son. It’s a special ritual we have begun and I hope you will enjoy creating your own special moments with these wonderful pieces in your home.
